At WSD, we regularly organize sharks diving just a few steps away of our 5⭐ dive center in Lipah. Agit from Jakarta could see a big 1 yesterday there during his PADI Sidemount training!
There is actually in Lipah a shark point at a depth of 30m (and below) : white tip reef sharks simply rest/sleep on the bottom of a coral garden with stunning corals and sponges.
White tip reef shark is one of the rare species that can sleep on the bottom provided there is enough current to breathe. Most of the other species of sharks need to keep moving to breathe even during relaxing/sleeping time
We also regularly spot black/white tip reef sharks on Pura Segara/Blue Hill for instance when guiding Tec divers (40/50m). A sickle-fin lemon shark was recently spotted twice by our dive guides on Tulamben wall, whale sharks as well sometimes on Liberty wreck for instance. Other types of sharks like the thresher shark or hammer head are also commonly seen in Amed by the CCR divers (no bubble). Pierre, our Instructor recently started rebreather diving to meet threshers, hammerheads and Mola-mola in Amed deep waters in the near future!
