At Amed White Sand Divers, we care about Quality not Quantity. Our dive guides usually supervise 2 fundivers only at a time and anyways a maximum of 3. After a check dive, our fundivers can really choose where they dive (Amed or Tulamben) and what they want to do : Reef, deep reef, Macro/Muck, Wreck, Drift, Wall, cavern or guided Tec Dives. For dive courses, we also have a maximum ratio of 1:3.

The instructor Roda, guides Nyamen, Kede and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The communication over Whatsapp (questions, booking dives, etc.) was easy and always super fast. The pick up service was always on time. Coffee, tea, water and cookies were availabe at most dive sites during the break. Rauh was such an expert, friendly dive guide and so patient and helpful with a 50 plus year old lady who hasn’t dived for 2 years. He helped me get in and out of the water with my dive gear. There are 30 dive shops in the Amed area. We chose this one because it happened to be closest to our accommodation and we had had a quick chat with them. They can come and pick you up or drop you off to your accommodation. We talked to a regular traveller to Amed and found out this dive shop is owned, run and staffed by locals so if you use them you are 100% supporting the locals. Day 1 we dived at the Japanese wreck - the wreck itself is small and not that interesting but has great marine life and is nestled on a coral reef - also a great place to snorkel. Saw a glimpse of a turtle. 2nd dive was at Jemeluk Bay. Day 2 we drove 30 min north to Sidem Macro Point where this is less rain water run off and therefore better visibility. Left side where the fishing boats are had a lot of dead coral but we did see a baby cuttlefish, a trumpet fish and some pipefish. Right side was gorgeous with lots of tropical fish. Highlight was seeing a giant turtle resting on the coral then another giant turtle resting under a ledge. Also saw two different lion fish. Another diver spotted a mola mola - sun fish - earlier that morning. Earlier this year another dive guide saw a whale shark! They also have underwater cameras to rent. Le attrezzature sono al livello standard di Amed, magari non nuovissime, ma sempre in ordine e ben manutenute. We did the Padi open water dive course and were very happy! The confined water dives were in the shallow in the ocean instead of the pool which was scary at first, but very useful later. Our final dive was at the Liberty wreck. The instructor knew very well what he was doing and was able to calm us down when necessary. Bien sûr nous avons fait des expériences de plongée inoubliables, exceptionnelles puisque les sites le sont. Mais ce que nous avons adoré avec AWSD c'est l'esprit amical, la facilité pour organiser les plongées, la diversité des options offertes. N'étant que Level 1 open water, j'ai bénéficié de 2 guides pour ma 1ère sorties ! Ma femme qui manque de confiance a été accompagnée en snorkeling par Jil, adorable. Rauh qui m'a accompagné les 2 jours a en plus fait le cameraman avec la GoPro que j'avais louée pour que je puisse avoir des souvenirs et des images incroyables. Quelle gentillesse. I did my Open Water 3-day course here and I was the only student at the time, so the instructor had all the time for me and he made sure that I understood everything properly, with a lot of patience. Not to mention diving (and snorkeling) around Amed is also paradise🤩 I had a great time and I want to thank Longshore for his lessons and patience with me!
